"Collecting Unconscious" is an exploration of dream memory, catalyzed by a fascination with the fleeting moment between sleeping and waking, when schema assimilation turns into narrative. Using ritual—particularly sigil magick, which gives power to a symbol through the act of destruction—I enhance dream recall and collect fragments and scenes to translate into paintings. Layers of underpainting and translucent washes form each painting. They are ultimately arranged within a system designed to function as a dreamcatcher—an ectoplasmic embodiment of my unconscious mind.
