111
"111" is a manifestation of my family’s influence on my design practice. My father, an industrial designer and architect, combines advanced processes with highly technical materials. My grandfather, a builder and mason, used whatever was available in his shop. "111" stands at the convergence of these two methodologies, merging precision fabrication with existing components.
Presented in the form of a dining set, I incorporate simple plywood seat and tabletop elements as an homage to my grandfather’s straightforward, needs-based building style. The metalwork, influenced by my father’s focus on minimalism and refined details, is joined through Hollaender speedrail flanges—a common construction fitting.
"111" references the sum of our birth years (44, 64, 03), representing my grandfather, my father, and me as three distinct makers. At the same time, it merges our approaches into a single cohesive piece, reflecting the shared legacy that shapes my own creative practice.
