Earthly Adornments
"Earthly Adornments" is a collection of sculptures and objects of everyday use, meant to facilitate a tactile, intimate, daily interaction with natural materials. It makes use of unconventional natural materials and discarded anthropogenic objects, blurring the line between human and nature. Elements include dishware made from the tree that grew outside my childhood window, rings meant to hold natural objects such as stones or water, and a circular loom made from a discarded steel frame. Through these and other experiments in material fabrication, "Earthly Adornments" asks how we can add meaning to the objects we use most frequently.
Juniper Hope Nielsen is a designer, artisan, and dreamer from Wisconsin. They connect people to their surroundings through works that adorn and impact the body, channeling mystical forces to reaffirm humanity’s dependence on the natural world.
