"BD 19710815 - Melting Goldsicle™" is a conceptual performance project exploring the performative and consumable nature of value under capitalism. Inspired by Yves Klein’s “Edible Blue” experiment, as well as luxury food culture, I created a limited-edition series of gold-leaf popsicles—each uniquely engraved and numbered, meant to be eaten and digested as a literal and symbolic act. The popsicles’ ephemeral beauty contrasts with their hollow content, revealing how trust, luxury, and identity are artificially-flavored and packaged for mass desire. Participants are left with only the stick, engraved with half a sentence—completion requires consumption, turning the act of eating into a metaphor for belief and complicity. Through material irony and visual seduction, this project invites viewers to question the value systems they internalize, lick by lick.
