Fragments: Pieces Lost and Found
"Fragments: Pieces Lost and Found" explores how maintaining relationships that span time and space can lead to a false sense of reality. When your heart lives on through another’s experiences on the other side of the world, how does this impact your lived experience? When you return home from thousands of miles away, and are reunited with what is meant to be your home, but feel more disoriented than comforted, where do you belong? Through an archive of handwritten letters, photographs of different points in time reflected in the atmosphere, and their subsequent synthesis, I express the feeling of a disjointed or fragmented reality.
Elektra Fischer is an artist from New York who navigates their experience of reality and re-contextualizes it through photography, writing, visual art, and speculative design.
